14k gold filled two tone oyster on eBay
Anyone ever see this watch bracelet in hand? I am not expecting OEM quality but otherwise I am wondering if the quality is there from an aftermarket standpoint.
There are other similar bracelets out there which are plated vs gold filled and are about 1/10 the cost. Does GF guarantee it to be a better product than a plated model? I know this might be taboo to some but I am not going to spend the money to get an OEM product. http://m.ebay.com/itm/201243256428?_...r=1&rmvSB=true Thanks everyone! |

Only OEM for me. I can't imagine a scenario where putting an aftermarket bracelet on a Rolex is a good idea. I can't answer your question, sorry.

Understood - but I am as the rolex I am buying this for I purchased very cheaply so adding an OEM bracelet would not be justified. And thanks for the constructive reply

I can't speak to the quality of that band, but there's no more wrong in putting an aftermarket bracelet on a Rolex than there is in putting on a NATO band or a leather band.
Just make sure that you're getting what you're paying for. Ebay can be challenging in that department.

Gold plated is different from gold filled. I cannot speak about the quality of that particular bracelet. I must say it does look good. As for the plating technique, gold filled technically is a much thicker layer of gold wrapping a base metal. You can see this in mid century watches. If you do an ebay search for Bulovas, Benrus or Gruens, you will notice that many of this watches were daily beaters and the gold of the rolled gold plating has wore off. But just to give you an idea of how thick is the layer of gold is, is it doesn't just "fade" it literally wears off.
I sort of disagree with watchwatcher, IMHO wear your watch with whatever you like and can afford. Is not that Rolex bracelets are of an unparalleled high quality either, only the later versions with SELs and solid links look like respectable compared to the quality of the cases and movements of their historical legacy. Enjoy your watch. |

This bracelet is way overpriced, you almost get some beaten original ones for that price and that is what I would look for. Aftermarket only up to max. 100 $. Qualitywise though, older Rolex bands are no better than the aftermarket ones.

Gold Filled on aftermarket bracelets is complete bull. That thing is probably plated and a $40 band at most. Cannot speak to the quality of this exact bracelet but every single aftermarket I have ever seen has been a piece of junk!

Thanks for the responses!
Any suggestions on who else has a decent quality aftermarket bracelet? My price point is at $300 or less. That is why this one was so appealing to me. A couple of you mentioned that one might be had - even stretched is ok - for $100 or so? |
