Dome help?
Hey wiseguys
I'm new in this Rolex world, bought my first Rolex in june, a 14060m and now this vintage scene is getting alot of my attention. So my plan is to keep my 14060m or buy the 114060 and then get a vintage one for special occasions. And i really like the look of the models with alot of dome. But is there most (can you say that) dome on the 5512 or the 5513? My budget is around 8-10k dollars. Could you help me with any models/years with the beautiful dome glas/crystal/plexi? Hope you can help me |

It's a T39 you want ...
I'm forgetting which early sports Rolex had the T39 crystal as original issue - someone will remind me.
But it's the T39 super-dome that towers over the others and it's a fit for a Rolex 5512 and a 5513, a Tudor 7928 and 7016 - probably others too. Real-deal original ones have the nicest curve to the dome but they are difficult to source and expensive. Plenty of newer generation ones out there (Rolex issue and after-market) - slightly different profile but they'll provide you with the big dome look. Here's one on a dreadful old gilt 5513 .... that I'm very proud to own |

Im not a wise guy even though i aspired to b one when i was much younger. Lol.
Paul is right T39 superdome is the highest but from my understanding its more suitable for 1665 SD. U can use it in 5512 & 5513 but it will sit very high. U r probably looking for T19 superdome. As said original is almost next to impossible to find. Also all supersome, dome n service crystal have reference of T19 or 39 but not all of them r superdome. Ur best bet is to find one unmolested sample that has not been changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
