Vintage Tudor durability

Can anyone comment on this for me please? I have a 1968 Tudor Sub, which I love but am not sure how rugged it is so I do not wear it much. I love the watch and want to wear it all the time, but I just want to make sure it can handle the rigors of life. Am I being overly concerned or do the vintage watches get brittle with age?

First - we need photos ;)

I wear mine all the time. Don't swim with it unless it has been properly reconstructive for water denial. Do make sure it is serviced.

I wouldn't operate a jackhammer with it on but certainly safe flying or diving a desk.

Inspect the hands lume to ensure there is no cracking or significant deterioration or you will end up with this:

Go for it ....

I have a few 60s era Subs and GMTs - Tudor and Rolex - and I wear 'em all with total impunity.
That's serious manual work and they just keep on keeping on.
Keep them serviced and pressure test occassionally and then just go for it I say

I wear my snowflake to work a few times every week (I own metal recycling yards and do manual work/operate equipment/etc) - I actually worry less with my vintage pieces (also have a 16800 and just made a deal on a 76100 lollipop) because the wear/tear adds character and I service them more regularly than their modern counterparts. Nothing stupid but I don't baby them.

Imo u r too concerned. Its a sport watch worn by divers, even military, sure it can take a beating. Wear it in good health n enjoy the hell out of it.

This Tudor Submariner 7928 made it through two tours in Vietnam with a SEAL Team member and worked well for over 25 years afterward. Yours should do fine.

Yes, but would you golf or ride a Harley with one? Now those are some real rigorous tests for vintage!!!

With so many good contemporary Rolex sports available, can't see the need however to risk a vintage in water. Why do it?

As long as it is in good shape and passes a pressure test, go for it.

Does not a 60s muscle or track car deserve to stretch its legs from time to time?

Yes

Totally agree. Mine is silicon water proofed and double pressure tested and I wear it all the time for anything. Except if there is a real danger to scratch up the (still original) plexi.
I mean come on, it was issued to military divers.
