Rolex Explorer II 1655 matching hand and dial

Hi, I am new to this forum and newbie on vintage Rolex, I got this Rolex 1655 from my dad, he had this watch since brand new, I don't know the exact year, I was born 1972, my mom told me he bought this watch around 72-75, she don't know the exact year, my question is, the watch has a straight hand but on the dial (on bottom) there is written " T SWISS <25 T" isn't it supposed to be "T SWISS T"
Please advise as I am newbie.
Thank you.

This is consistent with an mk5 dial from roughly 1980 or an mk6, hard to tell because the crown and explorer 11 text is covered, might've been purchased a few years later than your mom thought, a great family heirloom. Wear it in good health, also the serial number is between the lugs which will help you more accurately date the watch. Here is a great resource for information on the 1655 http://stefanomazzariol.blogspot.com...eccione%22?m=1 , and don't refer to it as a steve mcqueen explorer here unless you want your thread completely derailed, trolls seem to feed off the nickname.

Just funny that you mentioned it in the first response, and the OP probably never even thought of it. Until now...

Do a search on here and the internet for "Steve McQueen" explorer. Plenty of information available..

If it has a straight seconds hand then it was made during your mothers timeframe, 72-75

From my non-expert perspective, there does appear to be an inconsistency between that late of a dial and having a straight seconds hand.

Possible dial replacement from a later service? Images would help greatly.
