Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle

This is the latest addition to my collection, the Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle.

I ordered this from my AD a few months back when I first read about it & it came in this week.

The first thing you notice when you put it on is the size, it’s 47.5mm! Makes my SD seem so small!

This is a replica of the original Hour Angle, designed by Charles A Lindbergh to determine longitude during long distance flights.

For those that don’t know about Lindbergh, he made the first non-stop transatlantic flight from Roosevelt Airport to Le Bourget Airport near Paris on May 20th 1927 aboard The “Spirit of St. Louis”

It took him 33 hours & 39 minutes!

It has a Longines L699 self-winding movement & has a pocket watch style rear case cover, which opens to reveal the movement under a sapphire crystal back.

It also comes with an exact copy of Lindbergh’s flight plan & a full colour book showing photos of his flight.

The box & presentation are excellent, Rolex should take note!

Hope you like the pictures (lots of them)

The wrist shot

The retail is a very reasonable £2260, but I got a very nice discount from my AD

It also comes in Yellow Gold & I'm that pleased with mine that I've ordered that one too

That is a stunning watch. I am very impressed. What does that come out as far as US dollars?

I am absolutely thrilled with the looks of this watch. I am assuming that is an exhibition back with a hinged cover?

Thanks for sharing the review and pictures of this watch.

Hi Terry,

The U.S Retail is $4100 but I've found one advertised for $2849.

That's 31% discount

Very nice Longines. Over the last couple of years they have really done a lot to up-scale their line.

Congrats and wear it in good health.

Very impressive! I like the history behind the design. You are right -- the packaging is thoughtful.
