Explorer II Winding Issue
Hi Everyone,
I currently own a Explorer II 16570. I wear my watch regularly; however I occasionally (once or twice a month) let the power reserve fully run out. It used to be that after 5 to 10 winds the second hand would kick up, and after that I would wind it another 20 to 30 times for good measure before putting it on. Now, after 30 to 40 winds the second hand does not budge. I put the watch on my wrist and gently moved my wrist around. The second hand still didn't budge. Next I tapped the side of the watch case with my index figure; nothing. It took a tap equivalent in force to an angry mouse click for it to start moving. Once the watch is running it keeps time, and the power reserve on the watch is a little under two full days A little background. I got into a bike accident wearing the watch last October (You may remember my post). I scratched up the bezel a bit, but the watch wound and ran fine. Around Christmas, I the technician at the Rolex AD I bought the watch from cleaned up the bezel a bit (which they did as a courtesy). He had the bezel/crystal off, I don't know if he did anything else to it. Since then, I don't remember if I wound the watch from a dead stop before I noticed this "sticking". Any ideas with what this could be, is there something major wrong with the watch? |

There is nothing wrong with your watch.
It is a machine and all the parts need to be lined up perfectly with no torque lock and lubrication on every surface for it to start without a bit of effort.
