Bubblebacks....what to look out for

I'm interested in acquiring my first vintage piece. Looking into 1930's-50's Bubblebacks. Anything in particular that goes wrong with these? I'm sure repairs and finding certain parts can be a little expensive/hassle but other than that what seems to be the problem with these vintage gems?

Any years that are considered more desirable than others?
