First time Rolex buyer with questions - please help

I am interested in buying a Daytona Zenith Movement S series.
I have been looking on some good reputable sites like Bobs watches and others. It seems like if you look pretty well you can find a used one in good condition for about $10000 - 10500.
For instance there is one for sale in Az. (Not local to me) for 10300. This one is used and does not come with a box or papers.
On the other hand, I found a local shop with a brand new never worn white dial Zenith Movement with original box and papers. This watch was never worn but I am unsure if the series (they are checking) and they are asking 13000 before tax.
In your opinion is that a good deal for that watch? I have done a lot of reading on them and know I want that particular watch. Is it worth it to pay a little more money to get something that I can see in person as opposed to something I can only see pictures of??

Thank you.

** I just want to clarify my questions a little because maybe I was too wordy but everyone is posting comments that are not quite the answers I am looking for

My question is - Is a Daytona Zenith, U series, brand new never worn, original box and paperwork, unsigned papers with no owner, from an AD worth $12750 plus tax.
This AD is local to me and I can go there to see the watch.
What is the actual rate for this watch in this condition?
Should I just buy a used one for $3000 less?
Will the new one loose value as soon as I buy it because it will then be considered used?

Thanks

I am sure others will disagree with me but IMO

If you have never owned a Rolex in your life and you're looking for your first I would by from a AD. This way you don't get burned.

You get a warranty in your name and you can buy with confidence.

Then if you want a second Rolex you can buy second hand from the sellers here or a trusted source.

But that's just what I would do.

I would rather have a new one for that price but if that is the watch you want and are looking for only you can decide if it is worth it

Yes worth paying a bit more to get one in person for peace of mind, esp if it's not from an AD and therefore a used model.

As a new Rolex buyer, you should buy from an authorized dealer to make sure it is completely genuine. If it were me, I would buy a brand new Daytona with in house movement, but I guess you like the Zenith.

I'd buy from an AD in this case. Peace of mind is priceless, not that there aren't good sellers here.

OK so try and get $1k off the new one, I presume they've had it for a while. You will take a loss if you don't get a discount so then the maths is up to you.

Actually I think that is pretty awesome that they actually have a 15 + year old watch that is NOS.
The only problem is...it has been sitting around that long and may need service. You typically see 5 year NOS for sale. I wouldn't worry as much about those.

Maybe talk to a watchmaker if a watch has not ran in 15 years...if it's ok or needs lubrication or gaskets dried out...not sure b/c I am not a watchmaker.

But if your dead set on the zenith version of the Daytona.....I think it's a great opportunity to be the first owner....but ask questions about warranty or if should have some sort of service.
Good luck and report back

My experience with a local AD has been excellent. Very good prices, buy with confidence and I get great follow up service if needed.

For a first purchase, to me the peace of mind is worth it. And there still might be a bit of room on the AD price. Do it and enjoy your watch
