Thoughts on this nice Tudor Sub 7016
Hi, I'm looking for advice on this Tudor Submariner 7016 that's on offer on a Dutch: http://www.2dehands.be/bijoux-horlog...227107267.html
The seller could give me quite a lot of info: ETA 2483 caliber Rolex 702 Triplock crown Fat font insert Big bubble seconds hand Folded 7836 steel strap Build year: '72-'73 Dial is original Original glass has been replaced by a domed glass It keeps time (runs on cosc specs, 2 to 3 secs late per 24 hours) What do you think? Is this authentic? There are more pics in the ad. Thanks! |

Hi, can anyone help me out? I really don't know what to think of this one. It looks nice but I'm a newbie so I could be totally wrong.
Thanks! |

Can't see anything wrong with it. Looking good with that patina.

Great, thanks! And the specs look ok to you too? According to the info, the original glass has been replaced by a domed glass, that sounds reasonable for a watch of that age, doesn't it?

Changed crystal is very common on older watches. Specs are right and the dial is more rare then a snowflake dial.
I asked the seller some info about the serial, still no reply from him. |

Seller replied me to.
Serial is from 1971 which is more correct for this kind of dial. I told the seller he made a mistake about the year in his ad. Case has been overpolished at the lugholes but still has plenty of thickness at the lugs. Movement is the right one for this reference. Period correct insert, dial, bracelet, etc.... It's a nice watch, if you're looking for a vintage Submariner ;) |

Hi Marble, one more question: someone on another forum told me that the insert/bezel looks too narrow with the 40 barely finished. It indeed looks kind of tight, you think it's ok?
Thanks again! |

i think its nice... would try to be in at $3.5k USD or lower. Can't fix the case.
the folded link bracelet is also very tough to get used to. should factor in cost to upgrade... |

Thanks for the info? What do you mean with 'can't fix the case'? Case not good? I'be agreed on 3200 Euro, so that's about the price you mention. The seller has replaced the ad for one with more pics: http://www.2dehands.be/bijoux-horlog...229419015.html

Never mind, I didn't see it right. - Another question: Is the movement correct for a 7016? It has 2465 in stead of 2483 stamped on it and also the older Tudor logo/font.

I meant that you can't restore the case material. Once polished away it's gone.

Right, makes sense, thanks! And the older Tudor logo/font that's been stamped on the movement, does that seem right for the serial number (756xxx)?

Pictures from the movement are not to clear but I read 2483.
Only 2 calibers are used for the 7016 and a 2465 is not one of them. The insert looks like a fat font mk3 but I need better pictures. Fat font mk3 insert: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=359763 |

Yes, I read 2483 as well. These pics are all I have. Do you think the watch is still worth the price if the insert is not original?

Seller has confirmed that it's a Mk3 fat font insert. So it's a Rolex insert and not original to the Tudor 7016? Or did Tudor/Rolex made the 7016s also with this insert? Thanks.

she's worth but keep in mind, a genuine insert from that era costs you alot of money.
Can't you ask a better picture from the insert? Especially from the 40. |

I am not an expert, but I do have a 7016 Snowflake.
A 7016 from 1971 with mercedes-hands? I thought they all had snowflake-dials from that era, except for the first transitional 7016s with rose-logo. btw. I think 2465 was the internal number for the modified ETA 2483 movement. |

There are 3 dial variations, first rose, second shield dial with mercedes hands, thirt snowflake.
1971 is right for a shield dial with mercedes hands. |

Well, my 7016 is sernr. 623xxx, indicating 1968, and is a snowflake.
According to Tudors website the snowflake was introduced in -69. Did they do them in paralell? |
