My clients notice everything. And they are not shy about commenting.

I genuinely believe that showing success without going overboard does instill confidence. It's all about finding the right balance.

I believe that everything we do is part of a sale. I sold a Range Rover and bought a Jeep because it was regularly commented on.

And I agree, people notice a watch as well. That said, having a Rolex is not nearly the big deal it used to be. They are quite common these days and anyone with a credit card can buy one.

The guy that jockeys vehicles at the local GMC dealership wears a two-tone Sub.

There was a teen cashier wearing a clean fluted DJ at Trader Joe's, but he left. Didn't "fit in".

When I was in sales, the sun would sometimes glint off the WG TOG bezel. People making many times my pay would look at it wistfully but usually refrain from comment.

I worked delivering Chinese food when I was young. The owner had a Rolex and all it did was motivate me to work harder.
The haters will hate regardless. Maybe it will motivate one or two employees. Lol

Mine earn more than average and are treated well, do they resent my rolex watches? Absolutely not because I own th company and employ them with more benefits that just about all other companies

I wouldn't, it might negatively affect the way your general labor employees start to view you. Why draw attention, some of your FTE might have cars worth less than $1000. I wouldn't but that is just me

I'm in the exact same boat. I own a pool service company, and I figure I won't be wearing the Explorer II I'm looking to purchase to work. My guys are salaried pros, so while I'd be a little nervous about their resentment, I definitely wouldn't want my customers (or potential customers) to see me in it. Of course this may give me an excuse to snag a Pelagos for M-F so they're none the wiser.

My concern also has to do with my age though. I'm getting the rolex to celebrate 10 years in business and a milestone revenue achievement we should hit this year, but outside perception is a 32 year old in a blue collar industry must be charging too much for the work. If I was 52 I'm not sure I'd feel the same way because I think the current degree of "success" would be more accepted.

I would wear it and not give it too much thought. Generally speaking I treat everyone fairly and I have never felt or noticed resentment for what has been on my wrist at any given time.

I agree with Padi. The reason Rolex owners get so much attention and on occasion bad press is because a certain few walk around pretending it all of a sudden makes them a better person than others.

I have a few nice watches and the lower they fly under the radar the better, I don't go around announcing to the world I'm wearing an expensive watch or flashing it in peoples faces.

People should judge you on the basis of who you are as a person, not what car you drive, what watch you wear, what things you own. Style and class are to me two very different things. You are no better or worse a person than the man who works for you, the same goes for him too so wear it and don't think twice about it.

I remember my boss wearing a Rolex, when I was a 17yo line cook making about $7.50 an hour. I thought it was cool, and really liked the watch, and the success it seemed to represent. Never thought any more of it than that. I know now it was a 16710 with coke bezel. He was a good boss, very fair and liked to teach me about small business operations and entrepeneurship. I keep in touch now and then, that is how much I appreciated his leadership even still.

You're not running a sweatshop, are you? If you are taking care of your employees and the company is profitable, wear it with pride. You've earned it. Who knows, maybe it will inspire an employee to follow in your footsteps.

Another small business owner here, I bought my first Rolex last month. I haven't worn it to work. I own a retail store & have 5 employee's. They're paid fairly for what they do & above minimum wage. I also offer a generous employee discount, treat for lunch regularly etc. But I don't want to cause resentment & do think they would notice as we work very closely. I'm a woman & have a nice amount of fine jewelry which I do wear daily. It's noticed and commented on so I think my Rolex needs to stay after hours for now.

I also think my customers might notice the watch, we're in a middle to upper middle class area. I've got folks from all walks of life shopping with me so I hesitate to wear it because I think it could become an issue. Small town atmosphere, tongues wag.

As being someone who works for someone/many other people.. I don't care what they own. I don't care about their car or watch. No matter the income level, financial stability is always on the individuals mind. They only reason I'd see someone making judgement is if you have all sorts of flashy stuff and your employees slave everyday with no reward. I think if you're genuinely taking care of them, they won't care. If you are crying poverty and not giving raises and/or asking more of them with little recognition for what they're doing... then they might start nit picking at things you own. A person I know is in that exact situation. She's been working in a job that only has a few people... boss cries poverty yet has a nice 2 tone rolex, brand new Benz and is sending both kids to 50k plus a year schools. Only you know if it's appropriate or not
