Another small business owner here, I bought my first Rolex last month. I haven't worn it to work. I own a retail store & have 5 employee's. They're paid fairly for what they do & above minimum wage. I also offer a generous employee discount, treat for lunch regularly etc. But I don't want to cause resentment & do think they would notice as we work very closely. I'm a woman & have a nice amount of fine jewelry which I do wear daily. It's noticed and commented on so I think my Rolex needs to stay after hours for now.
I also think my customers might notice the watch, we're in a middle to upper middle class area. I've got folks from all walks of life shopping with me so I hesitate to wear it because I think it could become an issue. Small town atmosphere, tongues wag. |
