Since the watch is originally from the 80s, it had a tritium dial originally (swiss t<25). When it went to Rolex for service, they replaced it with a superluminova dial (swiss made).

I actually like the look of the service dial, and suggest you let it sit on thd watch for a bit before you decide. To me, there is a simplicity about the look of the service dial that fits the character if the Explorer.
