PCLs

I'm seriously considering a Daytona or GMT BLNR. Issue I have with both is the PCLs. I have read on the forum that some have the links brushed. If one takes that course of action what, if anything happens, if you send that piece into Rolex for service? Thanks in advance.

Rolex would restore the watch to its original condition, i.e. polish back the center links (and probably charge you for it).

The links would come back polished. You could always just send the head in, or use an independent watch maker.

I have both watches and think another approach my be get the watch and try it first

Yes the PCLs develop a nice patina and look great, really the worry over them is usually overblown by people worried about them but have never owned one

This is a five year old WG sub

Actually the brushed areas become polished than other way around.....

I have a ss Daytona and, well, hate the PCLs. I've learned to live with them though as I just like the watch so much.

I brushed out the PCL's on my GMTII as soon as I bought it. Sent to RSC Dallas for waranty work (rotor noise, RSC also did a comp service) in Feb 2013 and I added "Do not refinish case or bracelet" on the accompanying paperwork. After recieving the watch, they never mentioned anything about the brushed finish on the bracelet during phone calls to discuss the warranty work, and they were still brushed finish as per my direction when I recieved my watch back. So Dallas RSC apparently has no issue with this!

You can always buy a brushed bracelet, someone had a thread about how he swiped the BLNR bracelet a while ago.

Before I brushed the PCLs on my GMT I called the Dallas RSC and asked the same question. They encouraged me not to brush them. However, I was told the bracelet would be left brushed if I so requested. You also have the option to not have an RSC do any service work. You could instead do some research on TRF and find several alternatives. BTW, I love my GMT even more now.

I used to dislike polished surfaces much preferring brushed cases and bracelets. A sportier look. Over time, I've come to love polished cases and even PCLs. It adds a little something special to the watch IMO.

I've just got a Daytona and the PCLs were a big concern to me........ A week or so later I believe it wouldn't be the same without them. They look really good.

Once you have worn a watch with PCL bracelet for a while, you will get used to and enjoy it graduately (and forever?). The PCL issue has been too much exaggerated by people who are concerned about it but have never owned one.

I prefer brushed bracelet but will not refuse PCLs so long as the overall watch appearance is nice

I like the PCLs on my Daytona, and my old gmt2c as well. I'd leave it as it was created

The PCL makes the watch versatile.

I still have not grown to love the PCLs on my GMT2C. It's at RSC getting regulated right now, but when it comes home I'm going to put the brushed bracelet from my Explorer on it for a while to see how I like it with BCL.

Don't brush them. Seriously. Either buy into it or move onto another style. Yes, they scratch when breathing on them. But modding a Rolex IMHO isn't an option. It's not what was intended. And over time, the "scratches" blend in and the watch reveals a beautiful patina.

I had the same preference as Mike. Never thought I would buy a watch with PCL's...always preferred the "sports models" with brushed links. However, since purchasing the BLNR, I really like it the way it was designed.
The PCL's bring an elegant factor to an all around sports watch.

IF I get real adventurous I probably could fit my SDc brushed bracelet onto the BLNR.

You may want to consider changing your brand of toothpaste.
