Red Grape 116000

My new Oyster Perpetual Red Grape. 36mm.

Loving the watch.

The colour is very subtle. It doesn't scream in your face purple. The photo is quite accurate in this respect.

If I am brutally honest, I would like it a bit bigger. When the new 39mm options hit the shops I may look to trade up to the larger size.

On the plus though, its very discrete.

I like it a lot. Didn't think much of it until I was able to handle one.
Going to wait to see the 39mm and see which one suits me.

36mm is pretty small in today's standards, but not so much for a Rolex.

39mm is more of a modern size.

The only thing that bugs me about the 39, is it seems there is only lume at 3 6 and 9. (Unless the coloured dots are lumed?).

I was worried that the Red Grape would be too girly. I was wrong.

Some of the photos on the internet of the red grape being very bright pink or deep purple. I can confirm that it's not at all.

It has a subtle almost pastel quality to it. In the dark, it looks dark grey even. If you hold it to the light, the purple comes out more.

I have tried to show the true colour on the photos. (The lume is more green than my pictures suggest though).

In my opinion, it's more of a dress watch than a sports watch, the new double batons suggest this as a departure from the more sporty 36mm Explorer 1.

If I could use one word to describe the watch, it would be "elegant".

I think it looks terrific in the 36mm case! I may very well be joining you in the coming months. Thanks for the post!

Excellent choice, congratulations Richard! I ordered the steel dial a couple of days ago myself, and hope to get it in time for my upcoming birthday.

Congrats! Could you please share your new watch on wrist and sunburst position when you receive it?

I've loved this since I first saw it advertised. I like the 39mm size, but the red markers turn me off- I think I'd stick with 36mm.
