That Snowflake bug finally bit me

When I first became obsessed with the Submariner, I didn't understand the appeal of the Tudor brand or the weird looking "snowflake" hand on what I, back then, naively considered a sub knockoff. Over the past few years, my knowledge and appetite for vintage watches has evolved. Earlier this year, I tried on my friend's perfectly ghost bezeled, late 60's black Tudor Sub. I became fixated. Although I am still a relative n00b in the world of vintage, my early love for the classic Submariner design remains. Lately, I'm really digging vintage Tudor subs, and although I still dream of finding a thrift store Tiffany DRSD or a perfect unpolished NOS red 1680 sub in a barn sale, I've got a new (to me) late 70's blue Snowflake to keep me company while I wait.

Nice evolution of thought. You will enjoy your decision and it will bring much satisfaction.

Beauty

Wow that is a nice watch. I feel the same way as you. I want a Black Bay Red and will be getting one soon.

I don't really have the same affection for the Black Bay Blue, although they are great looking. But those vintage Snowflake Subs are opening a hole that may need to be filled.

Wear it in good health

I never got them either until recently, I had always been a huge Rolex Sub fan but not Tudor. Now I have a vintage blue snowflake I never take off and was literally one second from winning a 7928 on eBay 2 days ago (still gutted didn't win).

Enjoy your snowflake- to me they are the epitome of understated cool.

Snowflakes are cool indeed but vintage Milgaus , Explorer or no crown subs would be closer to the 'epitome' of understated cool IMO.

I completely understand your point, I just love the fact that unless you know the watch it's invisible- plus is a classic tool watch which in my opinion is the coolest type of watch.

I guess you are saying a benefit of the Tudor is that it flies under the radar but it carries 90% of the street cred at 20% of the price and that's certainly 'cool'!
