1675/3 from 1974: your thoughts....
Hello everyone.
Most of the time lurker, but this time I'd like to have your thoughts. I have the project to get a vintage GMT. I especially fancy the "tiger eye" two tone GMT. I found this one not far away from my place so I can have a chance to inspect it in person. I don't have the SN yet but looked on oyster info to have a idea, so this shouldn't be much of a problem on that side. But I'd like to have some external opinons on the general state of the item. (patina matching, lugs state, dial,.....). Doesn't seem bad to me, but I don't have the experience most of you have. So, here it is. Thanks in advance for your time. Note: any link to external info sources would also be much appreciated. Oli [IMG][/IMG] |

That appears to be a particularly nice 1675/3 GMT Master. If the price is reasonable given the quality and you have the funds, you should buy it. Before someone else does.

Looks good. Just sold my 1970 and it was virtually the same. The insert looks great.

Looks nice. Hard for me to tell the kind of dial - should be matte brown for that year I think

Hi all,
thanks already for these feedbacks. I had the opportunity to test it. Here are some more pics for you to comment. Dial looked to me matte brown indeed. Hands and lime dots match (to me). Lugs not over polished, bevels are visible. The only thing is the lug at 7 o'clock that has been reworked. Seller showed it to me right away. Seemed to be done in a good manner with bevel redone. P/N legible between the lugs. S/N 41xxxxx which according to oyster info is in the range, but at the end. The jubilee was too large for me to mean anything but looked "wearable". Leather strap is included. Crown has the line under the Rolex sign, which sounds ok. Hands show a bit of oxydation. Price is a bit shy of 6000€..... hum |

You can find cheaper ones, but you will search for a very long time trying to find a better dial & hand combination.

Sadly, I agree. Sure, these old vintage watches often get polished, and I can live with that sometimes, as long as the lugs are even. That lower left lug looks about half as thick as the other side. Otherwise, beautiful watch, although the bevels are a little big on the other lugs. Some guys love that, though.
