Yes, definitely possible. I believe the cyclops was just glued onto the crystal on the old acrylic Rolexes. I've read it's fairly easy to pop 'em off if you don't like them. Not sure I'd do that, but possible.

I believe they are cast-in so you have to sand and buff to get them off. Useful if the cycops is scratched beyone visibility (which seems to be the first place to be hit) but otherwise I'd leave it alone.

Here is my white I purchased in 1984, 1979 1680 all original except tophat. Worn daily. Bezel likes a push to move freely.
