Allison,
I recently retired from the Army after 27 years as an Infantry Officer. Before attending college, I served a hitch in the Marines, then re-upped in the National Guard while I was in school. The point is, I spent a total of 34 years in uniform. There is no way to describe the feeling of walking away from a retirement ceremony knowing it's all over. It's very emotional---pride, sadness, and bittersweet memories. A Rolex will put a punctuation mark on his retirement like no other gift. It will be the family heirloom that Dad, Granddad, Great Granddad etc., wore when he retired. Priceless provenance. And, your husband will wear it proudly knowing it represents so much. I bought myself the Green Submariner, aka, Hulk, for my retirement. I still get misty when I think about it. Lots of great advice on this site. Perhaps I could refine it a bit---use the Watchrecon site as a starting point, then cross-reference only those sellers from that site that also sell here on Rolex Forum. This way you can see each seller's offerings on one watchrecon page, then return to Rolex Forums to actually pull the trigger. You will find Takuya, DavidSW, OCROLEXGUY, and justrolexes to name a few on watch recon. But, I advise you to only purchase from one of the above and to do so from this site. Hope this helps.
