Feedback/experiences with service at Dallas vs. NY service Centers
Last had my K series Sub Date serviced (full) in the summer of 2009.
It's running phenomenally well (+1 sec per day without deviation) and while I am in somewhat of the "If it ain't broke..." mindset I'm also a big believer in regular maintenance of all my "machines" so considering sending it in for service. Would appreciate feedback from any who care to offer their recent experiences with service at Dallas vs. NYC vs. other trusted watchmakers (or those who say just leave it alone). Thanks! Myself after reading the thousands of posts on forum over the years,in general Dallas seems to get much better reports than NYC that's for sure.

Not even a question about it. I've used both and I won't send a watch to NY again. The difference in customer service from Dallas to NY would make one think they aren't part of the same company.

As far as RSC, I would only use Dallas. But Rik Dietel at Time Care Inc. is an CW21 independent with a Rolex parts account and will most likely do a better job than any RSC at a more reasonable price and quicker turnaround. And you can pick his brain over the phone for just about anything watch related that you cannot do via RSC.

When last serviced in 2009 I used a local watchmaker here on Long Island who has since moved to another location which I can get to but is farther from my house. Also, since this watch is now approx. 15 years "old" I figured maybe let Rolex get their hands on it (again since production) and give it a once over. I realize that the fact it is keeping time so well is not an indication of any possible wear issues inside, and it is probably time for at least new gaskets, but I'm reluctant to "send it away" just yet and may wait another year as the new guidelines for service are 7-8 years rather than 5-6. |
