Pre-owned Rolex in Canada
Hi guys,
I was wondering if any of you know any reputable place(online or store) in Toronto, Canada that sell quality pre-owned Rolex day-date president 118238? I used to buy online on Rolex Forum to save money, but since the exchange is getting higher(1USD ~ 1.21CAD) so i think maybe buying in canada would make more sense. Thanks |

Probably not going to make much of a difference since any of the dealers will be basing their prices on USD prices they see on the internet, and then adding a few bucks extra since they're a brick & mortar with employees. Canadians aren't silly, and will know what the watch is worth in USD. That, and Canadians are not huge Rolex consumers. You won't find too many used Rolex around unless they're inside ADs sold as "Estate" watches.

Thanks for advice. How about Watches us EU would it be cheaper since the US-EU exchange is better for USD?
Still miss the time like 2 years ago when 1USD ~ 0.9 CAD. Watches were much more affordable (for canadian) :D |

Well, since the US artificially controls the value of currency by pegging most of the world's countries' currency to its own via the central banking system & petrodollar, and mandating the Federal Reserve to print fiat currency at will that's not backed by anything other than IOUs on bad debt while manipulating interest rates, you won't find too many big deals based on geography/exchange rate these days. For that, you'd need a free market. That doesn't exist these days. So, basically you're confined to your own local market or the internet if you want to look for any kind of deals. Here in Hong Kong, though pegged to the USD, there is fierce competition since the majority of the Swiss watch exports worldwide flow through this territory. Here, you might find different prices all over the place with prices varying according to condition, age, rarity, and the popularity of the dealers. So, if you want a "deal"...come here. There are more Rolex dealers, both AD, non AD, and used than anywhere else on earth.

Although the xchange rate is quite low for the CDN $, buying in the US is still cheaper in my opinion.

Another vote for canwatchco.com. Bobby, the moderator, is excellent to deal with, as are pretty much all of the regulars on there. I've practically got him on speed-dial!!
Cheers! Ross |

I buy and sell on CWC all the time. There are definitely good deals to be had. Today I sold a 114060 that has been used for two weeks for around $5,500 USD.

The two downtown Toronto jewelers I've been to; Van Rijk, Watchfinder, both want new level prices for their preowned Rolexes.
