CathayPacific Airline offering InFlight Shopping of Vintage Rolex watches...

Err buddies...since March 2008...a unique programme was jointly launched by the premier HongKong Airline Cathay Pacific...to offer its airborne passengers the chance to purchase Vintage Rolex watches which prices ranging from USD1,000 to USD25,000...whilst being airborne!

Thanks for the info. I usually visit HK about once every two years and fly CX from SFO.

Oh man this is only going to lead to higher vintage prices

It is a pretty interesting and inspirational way to sell watches.

I guess if it enlightens people in the world of vintage horology it has to be a good thing.

Thanks Orchi from providing this interesting information

Err buddy Lee...Onboard retailer Inflight Sales Group (ISG) n Cathay Pacific Airways would have spent quite a bit on their marketing n advertizing campaign for this newly launched programme...

For now...perhaps the stocks are low...but they could always replenish with 'fresh' stocks...

That said...should BA...KLM...Luthansa...Quantas...SIA...JAL or other premier airline carriers follow suit...imagine what it would be like with the vintage Rolex market...elsewhere.

Err buddy Lee...kaput? finito? perhaps not so soon buddy...

http://www.dfnionline.com/article/Fl...e-1856542.html

Detter added: “We have secured additional stock to support the current program, and with the early success of our first Beyond Duty Free offering, we have already planned and designed a second program scheduled for Cathay’s July 2008 inflight magazine. We will continue to expand on our early success with new items, brands, and hopefully can beat our own record for most expensive item sold inflight”

or perhaps...Orchi would find out if that would be true...comes July...

The first lot disappeared less than 10 days after the announcement. And the conditions are quite strict, ie. you have to be on a CX flight leaving HK within a certain timeframe. But good luck to those flying CX.

i won two tickets to Australia back in year 2000 or 01...all I did was simply filled in a form and gave it to my relative who works in there.

$7,000 profit above retail...Not bad, not bad at all.

That's why a Chinese guy from HK by the name of Ken was after mine
for $18.000 dollars...yeap...I sold it to him (similar in condition too)
I think, I acted under duress...lol

I can clearly see now WHY my dear Watson.
