Tudors - our little secret...

You know that feeling you get when you unexpectedly find some money tucked away in a drawer or when you get your groceries delivered and find extra stuff you didn't order? Well, it's kind of like that, but very much more so! I feel like I've just got away with buying something hugely under-priced. I wouldn't be surprised if Tudors suffer quite a price hike, particularly since they can be had with significant discounts, unlike Rolexes.

I suppose it's just the novelty factor in play, but despite the weight (which as I've mentioned before is a little more than I'd prefer) I'm enjoying my new Ranger hugely. The crystal is fantastic (although my watchmaker pal has warned me that it would be expensive to replace)!

I'm glad I wear my watches on my right wrist, though, since the protrusion of the crown could be uncomfortable for lefties...

In 2 days, it's gained 16 seconds. That said, over 7 days would be a more useful indicator, I'd suggest.

In any case, nothing that a little regulation won't fix...

Leave it sideways, crown up, overnight, to slow it down a little. Works for mine.

Sounds okay at this stage of the game. Any ETA movement that I've ever had seemed to take a couple of months to "settle in", not sure if the movement in the Tudors reacts the same. They always got better after 4-8 weeks.
What is it with guys named Adam and the Ranger...

Tudors - our little secret...

I really loved my black bay! Fit, finish and the bezel action was just out of this world! Dare I say better than my submariner?? It gained 5 seconds / day for the first two days but as stated above resting it crown up overnight got it down to 2 seconds fast per day.

If it had the pelagos adjustable clasp I might have kept it longer than I did though. Ultimately once you've had the on the fly adjustability of glidelock a standard bracelet and clasp system just doesn't cut it....

Super pic Adam! My Ranger started out about +2s/d on the wrist and has "settled" I hope to about 1 s/d fast or slow. I love it on the fabric band which appears pretty sturdy. It better be! The local AD says they cost $180 from Tudor!

That Ranger looks awesome, but I don't think there are many steel watches out there that are "hugely under-priced," considering what they cost to make. You're looking at a couple of hundred dollar movement, at most, so that leaves well over $2K for a simple metal watch case. If anything, Tudors are just less over-priced than Rolex.

Of course, Rolex's push for in-house everything has been a wise move to create a somewhat false sense of more quality, as well as to provide a bit of a pricing smoke screen.

Tudors and Rolexes, like most Swiss watches, are Veblen goods, and the price is not really attached to anything other than status. I love watches from Rolex and Tudor, but rationalizing the price on these things, whether it's $2.5K or $8.5K, isn't worth bothering with. We just buy what we like.

How is the Ranger comparing to your Explorer 39mm??
I let the Ranger go as I wanted the Explorer.
Will you be keeping both??

Only eight hours? Took me about a day to notice that. It's a great feature, and kind of expands the dial when you look face on, too.

The Explorer is still my favourite watch, by a big margin, but if my financial circumstances were different, I'd not bother with a Rolex and instead get what I believe to be far better value for money by sticking to Tudor - see my other reply above. Will I be keeping both? Absolutely! I'm very happy with both of them. What the Ranger loses in terms of finish etc, it more than makes up for in terms of price

I appreciate they're somewhat similar to each other, but that faily minimalist style appeals to me hugely
