I used to be in your camp as well but recently have really started to warm up to jubilee. I'm loving the look of a BLNR on jubilee

Jubilee on DJ; Oyster on everything including DJ. Not too keen on Jubilee on any sports model.

I am not a fan of the jubilee bracelet. That said, in my short time of having an interest in watches, I've noted that I am an ever moving target. When this started, I did not like yellow gold, thought yellow gold and black together was a particularly atrocious combo, thought the president bracelet and the day date in general was stodgy and tired, did not like watches under 42mm, had zero appreciation for precious metals, thought pretty much everything besides the YM II and the subs were overrated and other such myopia. As it stands now, the main reason that I did not get a white gold sub is because I've become so enamored with the black dial, yellow gold GMT and the yellow gold day date is tugging at me too. It would not surprise me if someday I would lust after a jubilee bracelet root beer GMT. The root beer is something I currently have no appreciation for but I can say in earnest, what do I know? I can not trust myself in these matters.

The Jubilee works quite well on several models. One of the finest bracelets ever made.

I'm not a fan of the jubilee bracelets,.....especially on men's watches. I've always thought they looked a bit "feminine" and more delicate, so in my view they look best on women's watches.
For sure I think they tend to stretch much more than an Oyster bracelet does. (at least the ones I have seen that were worn a lot,....especially the PM models) But that's a choice each of us make,......and some guys love them! (Bruce Jenner probably did, and even more so now! ) But hey,....to each his own,......what ever makes you happy. I don't care for the fluted bezel either,....and much prefer the smooth domed one. Less flashy and more classy, IMHO........especially on a men's watch. Oh were such choices be fairly left up to THE CUSTOMER to decide, .....you know,....the paying folks that give Rolex their market share and clout,.....and pay da bills! In a perfect world..........maybe someday........ For now,...the 2 tone "newer style" Oyster bracelet on my 11 year old 116203 Datejust is PERFECT and manly looking. (as is the domed bezel!) As "Miss Swan" often said on Mad TV,...."It looka like a man" |

Yeah, it's not for me either. But to me the Oyster is perfection, so everything else pales in comparison.

Love the jubliee...super comfortable. However the problem for me is it's usually attached to a 36mm watch and wtih 8.5" wrist, I need a lot of links. Makes the watch head look smaller and my wrist huge when there are 27 links on there. :)
My wife wears the 18k jubilee on her 16018 and it looks stunning and I'm sure feels great. |

The market is the best gauge for demand, Jubilee's sell for less than Oyster. I'm not opposed to them, but will take Oyster 10 out of 10 times.

I think preferences tend to stem from whatever we saw first. I always admired a colleague's DJ with SS jubilee and years later when I started to buy my own - I chose the jubilee. I also have a strong love of the president due to my uncle having one in the 80s.

Let's not be so indecisive........ Quote:
...........would look pretty cool with a late model solid link Oyster Bracelet in my mind, and lay much smoother on the wrist. After over 10 years of solid everyday wear (except for the last few weeks wherein me and my new 114060 Sub have been getting acquainted ),......my 116203 Datejust with this band went near unnoticed as far as me knowing I even had a watch on without looking at it. Was just SO comfortable! I owned a president, and the raised sharp edges of the band were ALWAYS noticed. I suspect these edges are a bit harder on shirt sleeves also for the long haul. Can't verify that because I enjoyed my Datejust more for everyday wear. |

I just "felt" like I had a ladies watch on. Sorry,.....the bracelet looks feminine on a manly sports watch head in my mind...... ......and NO question this bracelet gets the MOST stretch of any of the bracelets. That alone makes it a choice I won't make. Another reason I prefer the oyster is the bit more weight,.....it "feels" like a more solid product somewhat justifying Rolex pricing! |

This is a great thread, lots of well considered opinions. I'm ok with the jubilee, bought my DJ with one. Then I switched it out for a fully brushed Oyster bracelet, the one that comes standard on the Oyster Perpetual watch and I really like the look. Fluted bezel and all brushed links gives it a bit more versatility. As much as the Oyster bracelet is a Rolex standard, it's imitated by so many (usually lesser) watchmakers out there, the jubilee not so much.

GMT and DJ. It seems that Rolex agreed at one point. The GMTIIC just can't do a jubilee though.
