First time buyer needs help
A local retailer has the Milgauss, black face, not the GV and the GMT IIc 116710 LN. I love both watches for different reasons. The GMT IIc is demanding approx 900 USD more. Any advice?

Welcome. Get the watch that sings to you better then the other. Try both on and decide then.

i agree with Wolfgang. You've got to wear the watch on a daily basis. You want the one that smiles back at you.

apart from the sensible comments above... it all depends what you need your watch for...
i have tried both of them on... and have paid a deposit for the gv... so with the price difference and all im leaning towards the milgauss

Welcome to TRF!!!
Hard choice IMO! I like the GMT IIC better for many reazons: Clasp, Wight, the Ceramic Bezel, The green hand and lettering, the triple lock Crown, the GMT function, but that is why I like it better, why do YOU like it is the question? I think the Milgauss is a nice looking watch and it is said to be the next Daytona in terms of availability and trend but would not buy one other than to resale it above Retail price, don't know just not my cup of tea! Good luck!!!!

Welcome to TRF!
You need to analyze what about the two models you like and then judge which of them offers most of the things you like - and NEED. I for my part would choose the GMT IIc. The GMT function does come in handy when you travel (or just want to keep track of up to two other time zones at a glance). The maxi dial is a big plus, too, imho. And above all, the GMT IIc has a date feature, the Milgauss doesn't. Best of luck!

I would go with the Milgauss...
the GMT II is going to be around whenever you want one...

As stated, try both and see which is best for you. Each brings a certain "something" to the table, but in the end get the one you want and don't worry about which may be worth more down the road.
Of the two, for an everyday watch with a lot of versatility the GMT would be MY pick, but we're all different. |

Nice reply Mike!
That has got to be extremely helpful for this gentleman, nice you took the extra time to send the photos and they are all the right shots. For my 2 cents I would take the GMT for the functionality and I like the Maxi dial. I think you are better to block the $ out (within reason of course) and get the watch you love the most. Its a long term purchase for most of us so marry right the first time other wise you will end up divorcing in order to get the one you want, and divorce ... always costs money. Just mho.

The Milgauss model is designed to shield the movement from magnetic fields, so if you work in a lab or around electronic equipment, this might be a great model to own. Another aspect is that they seem to be highly sought after right now. You will likely be the only owner on your block, so to speak.
The GMTIIc is functional if you travel a lot or call other time zones or need to coordinate work projects on the other side of the world, which is increasingly common these days. The Milgauss doesn't have a date, which bothers some people. If I were choosing I would go for the GMT IIc, which has been updated recently, but that is just me. Best of luck. |
