I think the lesson here is that if there's an iceberg between you and success, stay on the boat and go around it. It's too much trouble to try to swim under it.

You were correct anyway. Success is only defined as money, if that's one's choice. If one's goal is to be happy and that goal is realized, that's success in the highest order in my book. Happiness can take many forms.
