Locking Bracelet
What year did Rolex move to the locking bracelet? I'm referring to the style that has been on the sports models for at least the past 10 years.

The "Fliplock" on the Submariners has been there for a LONG time.
Even the 1960ies Sub bracelet ref. 9315 with folded links had the Fliplock, so you're looking a about 50 years.

Sorry I wasn't clearer, but I believe the name of the buckle that I am referring to is the "oyster lock"(?),
thanks, greg |

Ah, okay.
Well, the OysterLock was introduced on the "Zenith" Daytonas when the bracelets when from all matte to the shiny centre links in late 1991, early 1992. The YM was introduced in 1992, also having the OysterLock.

Were other Rolex models introduced with the Oyster Lock around the same time (1992+)?
Out of curiousity, is it your preference? greg |

First of all, I might be wrong. It's not easy to pin-point years of introduction of such small changes. Secondly, I have learned a lot by other members here, by 20 years of experience with Rolex watches and by reading books.

The oysterlock seems to have made it's apperance on the EXP and GMT around the late U series--97-98.

The OysterLock is different, though, having the Rolex coronet on the fold-over buckle itself.

The oysterlock is the smaller of the two locking clasps, used on the GMT and EXP. The fliplock is used on the Divers watches and of course has the extension.
