Is this Datejust 16233 real?
Hello, I'm not too knowledgeable about watches, just need some help identifying if this is real or not. I tried watching some videos on the internet but I'm still unsure.
I received it from a family member and it's a few years old. Thanks, let me know if more photos are needed |

OP, Welcome to TRF.
If you remove the bracelet, you will find the reference (model) number and the serial number between the lugs. If they are missing or poorly etched, the watch is fake. The reference should be 16233. The serial number should be a letter and six digits. The letter tells the approximate year. Here's a link to the date codes: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=54362 If you live in a town with an authorized dealer (AD), they will probably be willing to take a look for free (they would like you to come back and trade up to a new one). They will remove the bracelet and check the reference number and serial number. They won't normally open the back because then a new gasket and pressure test would be needed. The experts will add their comments later. They will certainly ask for better pictures of the dial, crown, clasp, and both sides of the clasp when open. |
