A few people have commented that if you get a platinum Daytona you won't wear the SS one much again. I know that it's slightly different but I had a SS Daytona, then bought two WG Daytonas. I see them as totally different watches and I still enjoy wearing my SS Daytona at times in rotation with all of my others. If you bought the SS as a present for your 40th I would not rush to flip it just because you might not wear it much again. If you can, buy the platinum and then see how you feel about the SS version a few months later.

Good luck with you decision.

Alright, the way I see it you've got to keep the Hulk and the Smurf. The remainder of your Sub collection is disposable. I'd put the LN and the Kermit on the chopping block first since you already have green in the Hulk and you have a nice all black GMT Master II. The Bluesy is a tougher sell as it's your only two tone piece. I'll leave that up to you.

Here is where we might depart. I'd argue that you sell the Daytona if you really want a Platona. If you makes those moves, you're getting closer in price. I'd actually keep the stainless Daytona and save for a DD40 but that's just me.

Wow. Your collection rocks.

I can't help you with your problem since I'm not a fan of the platona (isnt it great that Rolex makes so many different models and styles to suit all different tastes?).

Since I'm of no help. I go back to looking at the pic of your collection

I had a similar collection and ended up with the PM versions and believe me and as you know, the PM model virtually stops me from the desire to wear the SS version

we all await the inevitable Platona incoming!!!!!
Lots of good responses but I would listen to your Doctor on this one....you can always add back the one(s) you miss over time if any!!

Flip a few.. There is definitely redundancy and striking similarities.

+1 for the Platona

Also have to agree with Tom, the AP Diver was my fav SS watch once but I tried it on the other day at the ADs and the feeling was rather weak now that I have mostly PMs.

I'd flip the SS Daytona, the SUBC, and the TT Sub.

SS Daytona: will be replaced by Platona.
TT SUB: well u have the Smurf for the blue days
SUBC: you can always buy this watch (Keep the kermit en get the black insert).

Don't know why I'm asking....

I'd flip everything except the 619 add the platona and put the rest towards a nice Lange ;)

I think you should keep all of your watches, buy the Platona and if you're ever in upstate NY, bring a bike (and the Platona of course) and we'll see how you like hill country...

I'd keep the SS Daytona as its colours are way different to the Platona and they BOTH look great. Sell a few of the similar-to-each-other black dials and the YM. Platona is an incredible grail .

Will do. If you're ever in the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC or Asheville, NC area, let me know. I'll show you some real hills. My favorite loop is 82 miles with 9200 ft of climbing and it's pretty easy to add an additional 1000 or so if you like.

Keep the blue sub only, add platinum Daytona and WG GMT. Just perfect...

If I were in your situation I would sell 16610 and 16610 LV. They have no significant difference between each other.
