Japan is a great place to buy rolex. Thailand is not that cheap even with the tax refund.

Thailand is not a cheap place to buy any luxury items so Japan would definitely be the place to buy right now.

Just from memory, here are some full AD prices of Rolex watches in Bangkok

SDc = THB 358,000

LVc = THB 320,000

BLNR = THB 293,000

As far as I can tell it is also quite difficult to get a discount on these pieces.
I have been told that there is no discount on a Sub date but on the Sub there can be discounts given. I haven't heard of many people at all ever getting over 10%, but when a discount is available this is usually the automatic figure.

For any purchases over 200,000 baht I believe the VAT return at the airport is 6.1% of the purchase price.
