Icon4 Deep Sea Dweller

I have the opportunity to buy a deep sea dweller, and the seller told me it was just purchased new in 2015.

The serial number begins with G, which seems to be from 2010. The watch appears brand new.

Should I believe the seller ?

Does he have the original receipt? Some slower selling models can sit in AD's cases for a while so it is possible that a G might have been first sold in 2015. I personally think that DSSD's move out of inventory fairly quickly. Buy the seller not the watch, there are a lot of DSSD's out there.

Does the serial number have six numerals after the G, or eight numbers and letters in total? Could just be a random starting with G.

Both random a total of 8 digits and single letter G plus 6 numbers serials started the latter part of 2010 and are still in use at present time.It would be impossible to sell and make all the G serials in 2010, same could be said about every serial produced by Rolex over the last 80 plus years.Case serials are a rough estimate by any internet chart between X&Y years when the watch case or bracelet clasp was stamped, and NOT when the watch was made.

It's possible...and easy enough to verify if the watch has papers.
