How many hand turns to fully wind Rolex?

I'm talking about an Explorer I. When the watch has fully unwound, how many full turns by hand will it take to fully wind it up? And what happens when you've reached that number? Does the crown hit resistance, or does it continue turning but just not do anything?

Also, who here even handwinds their Rolex?

Rolex recommends 40 to 50 turns to wind. You can't overwind, there's a "clutch" that prevents.

I'm told that 30-40 turns fully winds a rolex movement and that you can't over wind one as there is a clutch system that protects the movement.

There is a thread that you may want to take a look at. It's titled "facts" and is in the rolex discussion forum. It contains some useful information.
