Ironically, I think this is a really good sign you should get it for her. If she had really wanted it, the opposite would be true. I think you should buy the watch, write a nice note specifically dated her 16th birthday (referencing the watch) stating how proud you know she will make you in the future, stash the watch in secret, then give it and the card to her on the day of university graduation.

First Rolex I gave my daughter at 25, she and her husband sold when they moved into a new house. Just saying 16 is too young. In my case 25 was.

while a Rolex will last a long time memories last forever. Skip the watch and plan a fun trip together.

DJ 36mm with White gold bezel. Dont worry about all the madness - you know best. No problem having 5+ PM rolex but buy a rolex for your 16y child and you are crazy ;-)

I'm in the strongly disagree camp. Several hundred dollar Omega or Tag maybe. Not several thousand. That being said maturity is the important thing so it's foolish to make generalisations because of her age. Still she should only acquire one on the condition that she works her 16yo ass off for it.

The memories of an amazing trip together will far exceed the value of a watch. She can always buy one for herself when she is older and has a job. But you may never have the chance to take another trip together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just noticed the thread is almost a year old. Surely it has been settled. Next.
