Opinions on this 5513 please
Hi Guys,
It never rains it pours :) Decent vintage pieces rarely pop up locally down here, but this one just popped up after I just committed to another purchase. Would require a flip of my sub c to make it happen. Thanks in advance |

Looks good, hands of this era do degrade like the ones on the watch. The spotting is loss of gloss and paint and it seems to show down to the base plate. I am sure "tropical" designation may be used but it's a damaged dial. Fat font insert and tropic crystal. Is serial in the 1.2-1.4 million?
I think it has a cool look but the price would have to be correct for the defects. |

Serial number is 1.3 million and the asking price is about USD 11,000
I see HQ Milton have a 5512 with a very similar dial as to the spotting. Would this get a lot worse over time ? |

As rough as those hands are, that damaged dial would be a deal-breaker for me. I don't think I could ever "get past" that. But....one man's damage is another man's "tropical'

Pass. Some dealers will try to put a positive spin on these dials, calling them "stardust", but they're damaged. I'd hold out for something nicer.
