I think so as well , I don't want to be a nagging ***** and it could have been me not them , I think after polishing it might became more noticeable

I hate to say it but it does look I like it was there pre service, once I enlarge your pic. I still say that the lume darkness at 5 o'clock is there too, I don't mean to pile on here. The light polish probably made the crown guard dent look much more noticeable. Kind of like you don't really notice the dent in your car hood until you give it a good wash and wax, you stand back and exclaim, wow never noticed that before.
Here's one of your before pics enlarged.

That CG is awful, send it back for a replacement.

Edit - Yes, does look like the dent was already there.

After seeing the close up, I also belive the dent was there but I belive "the light polish" was in fact a full on polish that made the dent a lot more deeper.

I would be very unhappy with that. The more time I spend here the more I know that for my 116710 an official RSC is the only place that will work on it. My next purchase may be vintage. If so I'll use one of the watchmakers on this forum for light polishing and new gaskets and service. I have no qualms buying from an AD but I've read enough on this forum to know I'll never let one touch my watch for any post purchase service. Let us know how this turns out for you.

I second that , I think it was there and given it wasn't polished with the normal scratches and wear it was pronounced and after the polish it became very hard edged and more pronounced.

I agree with you , so it's not their fault not to point fingers at the wrong people. Although polishing it made it more edgy sharp and pronounced.

Yep, they made it a bit too shiny, Give it some wrist time and the normal wear patina will blend it back where it isn't so noticeable..

If you are artistic or good with your hands you could touch things up a bit with a fiber pencil or knock the shine down with some steel wool..

I've never sent something in before. Do you pick it up at an AD or do they send it directly to your home? If you pick it up from an AD do you inspect it first?

I picked it up , inspected it at a glance and it looked fine , after leaving and giving it a detailed inspection I came out with these point though I have to clarify the dent might have been there from the before service pictures . The polish only made more sharp edgy and pronounced .

It's funny how we notice things. I think we are critical about service centers, as well as many other services, and we look at it very carefully, and inevitably see those little dings.

I think this is a good example of why when we give something to be serviced, that it also be backed up with pictures or a visual inspection with the stores proprietor.

Thanks for bringing this up

Hi no MO122. Iam from cairo to and used that service center many times in the last couple years. But I always confirm that I need regular service without polishing. I trust nobody of them in polishing. I know the manager there. And I once sent complain to rolex Geneva. Anyhow I wish everything get sorted. Sent PM to you

That's horrible. It's almost like they took a Dremel tool to the crown guard - totally unacceptable!

I have to agree..looks like it was there all along but definitely more noticeable now. Sure hope you can camouflage it somehow. Best of luck.

I'm going to close this because it's pretty clear that posters are just blindly adding their 2 cents worth and not even reading the thread..

That doesn't accomplish anything
