Denied buying first Rolex

Interesting article about a Milwaukee Bucks player who wanted to go buy his first Rolex, but the AD wouldn't let him in the door:

Doesn't make sense since he shopped at the store before they should recognize him especially at his height

It does not make sense:

"A man, later identified as John Henson, informed the officer that he was there to buy his first Rolex, but every time he tries the door, it’s locked and they don’t let him in."

Why would he persist in trying to give that store his money? I am sure there are other Rolex AD's in the area that would be more than happy for his business.

When I walk into the store if I even think they are not treating me well, I walk out. (Unless it's Target or Costco.... But funny thing is they usually treat me pretty well)

Why would Henson buy from there if he felt unwanted.

I would take my business somewhere else

It would be foolish to judge / speculate on what happened until all the facts are in.
Lets not jump to conclusions just yet.

Yeah I would have gifted him a rolex if I were the owner and apologized regardless of the circumstance. Doesn't matter the situational specifics, it looks bad and the sooner they make whole the better in the public eye.

This reminds me of when the Hermes store didn't let Oprah in BIG mistake.

Seriously, does anyone truly believe there is less racism in their country?

There's no call for what happened to this man and he (and others) should seek business elsewhere.

The owner says he knows John Henson & has met him in store before, yet Henson says every time he tries to go in its closed? Someone is lying. The liar is probably the culprit. Meeting scheduled tonight between owner Dixon, Henson & Bucks to set record straight.... Giving a free Rolex for racial profiling will not solve anything if guilty, striping owner of license more appropriate.

The owner apologized and acknowledged that it shouldn't have happened. Milwaukee is one of America's most segregated cities, so it's not entirely surprising that something like this happened.

Hopefully he gets his Rolex.

We are now living in a new age of internet mob justice. Reviewers have absolutely destroyed their reputation on Yelp and the google review results should reflect the hundreds of 1 star reviews soon enough.

Despite that, it will all be forgotten in a week or two.

Not enough info...probably never will be and quite frankly, why should any of us care?

It's not our business.

With all respect to the OP and other commenters -

I see way more than enough of this sort of thing elsewhere. Generally these stories are written more to incite emotion than inform, and it is hard to comment on them without sounding either racist or too PC for one's own good. I'd rather not try to thread that needle.

IMHO, I think we should leave this stuff elsewhere and limit our conversations here to the watches themselves. Just my two cents.
