The Day-Date II has been discontinued to make way for the Day-Date 40, so in a sense, its release has affected the DD II.

Personally, I would not consider the DD 40 an "upgrade" to the DD. More of a lateral move to a larger version of the DD.

DDII is the DD40's cousin whose head is a little too big for his face

DayDate II is creeping up in value since they discontinued them. Get them while you can!

The DD 40 has replaced the DD2.

The advancements in the new movement and braclet make it an upgrade to the DD and DD2 IMO

Yes, mvmnt is an upgrade, and prices seem to be rising on DD2s.

I can see 41MM creeping up or holding value for a long time now. I prefer the new 40 though.. the platinum dial is simply breath taking in person.

The proportions are so different, I'm sure that there will be fans in both camps for quite a while.

IMHO, DD40 is a perfect watch, like the original DD36 (too small for me)

Perfect dimensions and balance.

Not to mention significant and real world movement upgrades Included

For me, It is at the top of a very short list of favorites and that list keeps the company of watches at a whole other level.

I've done LOTS of research the last few months and had a number of 40's and ll's on my wrist.

Ask the trusted sellers, the II's are creeping up in value and getting harder to find.

I personally can't find a 40 dial to love and the ll's just feel better on my wrist. I plan to have one shortly. Upgrades to the 40's or not!

I love the new Roman numerals on the DD40. They look very modern and sleek compared to the DD2. However I still really find the DD2 very desirable.

If I ever decide to purchase a PM DD, it will definitely be the 41mm version.

No matter which you one choose the DD40 or the DDII there both worth the money and youll love it.

Why you getting rid of the 118238? Is it too small?

I have yet to handle the new DD 40 but the watch does interest me for the new movement. I am a big fan of the DD II as I own a YG and Platinum version of the watch. It will take a lot to move me away from these two but I am keeping an open mind. I believe the value of the DD II will increase over time based on being discontinued.

Rolex have gone back to the more ' Classic' look with the DD40. I think the DD2 has more a 'Sporty and Younger' look. Here in the UK DD2 prices are going up and become very hard to find in the secondhand market(Yellow/Rose especially). DD40 are already selling secondhand the same if not cheaper than DD2!
