Opinions: GMTII strap replacement with rubber??!
Hi Forum members,
It's only the second day of owning my GMT II BLRO and I am already thinking of strap replacement! Having a few Panerai's in the watch collection does not help. I was wondering what your thoughts are of purchasing a rubber strap for the GMT II. The WG band is awesome BUT when going on a wet holiday, I was thinking a runner strap would be better. Any thoughts on the 'look'? Also a quick message on what tools I would need to do this without butchering the fine polish of the WG strap! Thanks |

That watch is meant to be on an oyster bracelet. I say don't do it.

I had a rubberb for my GMT and after the first month of wearing it I never put it back on. Also, I scratched up the lugs a bit getting it on/off. It's the oyster bracelet for me now.

It's your watch, do with it what you like! Post some pics if you do change it up. A forked spring bar tool is what I use for the shouldered spring bars. Tape around the back of the lugs will help prevent scratches.

I completely agree. Especially considering the price of the watch. Here again your watch, your choice.

I think that's totally fine to do. Making the watch even more sporty and more physical activity friendly.
The oyster bracket do scratch up a lot. I say do it if you want to

Thanks for the input!
For now the oyster bracelet is staying. Afterall, it's so pretty and I should enjoy it as designed. |
