First, try resting the watch on its side, crown facing up. You might pare that second-and-a-half down a bit.

Secondly, was your experience the same as mine: was the cost of the service more than the price of the watch when your dad bought it?!? :D

Hi Hilo, I find this watch to be more sensitive to positioning than my other more modern Rolex watches. I played around different positions this past week, on average it is now spot on (+0.5) accurate if I leave it untouched (dial up) it runs at +3s/24.
Yes that's correct, the cost for restoration is more than the original price paid for this watch, I just wanted a fine job done and that's where it matters. The bill was forgotten, but my father's memories remains.
