What references do you have regarding this policy? For example: personal experience, letter, or e-mail from RSC? And what specific requirements or phrases would such a "letter from the AD" need to contain?

Not saying your information is not accurate, but trying to get concrete facts out in this thread, so it can be as useful to members as possible.

Then technically no watch sold here by the trusted sellers is BNIB. The new cards are always swiped = activated when purchased, by the AD. Whatever you write to that card is irrelevant with the current warranty card.

That's probably accurate. A watch can only be BNIB once! Just like buying a car...once it has been titled, it's used..period. Regardless of miles and usage, if it has been titled, you are the second owner and you are buying a used car.

Since this thread touches on warranty several times, here's a link to a recent addressing this topic, to bridge this thread and that one:
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=248155

Note that it's short, and while starting originally in 2012, is current with recent posts (NOV 2015).

I buy used watches , so I wouldn't care , but if you are after a grail BNIB, why wouldn't you buy from an AD and not have to ask all of these questions which are obviously taking away from the experience?
It also does not come with its original box so it is not as you would get it from an AD.

How much are you saving by buying it second hand as opposed to buying it from an AD?

A trusted seller's watch can be 'as new', but it can not be 'new'.

When it was bought it the AD it was new, not when it is resold.

Yeah. Agree with Travis and Cru. Even a little doubt and just suck it up and go to an AD.

You will feel much more comfortable and the unease won't ruin what should be a great moment.

My pops taught me peace of mind is ajways worth the extra cost. I agree.

Do you know when Rolex started actually swiping the warranty card? I read they started doing this but wasn't sure it was actually put in place
