Any thoughts on the Maurice Lacroix masterpiece collection? I just picked up a brand new limited (288 of 500) from their open heart collection. It was old stock and the jeweler is not going to carry the brand anymore. That didn't bother me as I really liked the watch and liked the 55 percent off list with no tax (it was a Caribbean purchase). It's my first ML and has a totally different look and feel than my Rolexes. Cool. Very cool.

I used to own one of their quartz chronographs with a moonphase indicator, I found the watch very, very nice.

I don't think they're considered haute horlogerie but they do have a lot of interesting movements with retrograde hands. I personally like that brand.

i dont really see anything bad about them. they have some nice looking pieces. my policy is if you like it wear it.

I'm a fan of the Masterpiece line. They've produced some very interesting complications using old stock movements like the Unitas manual winds and have done it at attractive prices. A few of their 43mm models like the Jour et Nuit and the original Retrogrades are almost unique and available on the pre-owned market at nice prices. Several of the 43mm watches have solid silver dials. They also produced chronos using Venus and other old movements. Now, they're making their own movements.

if you hadn't known, maurice lacroix's whole collection is very classic french design and it gives an elegance that no swiss or german design could really give. I'm not bashing on swiss or german design though >.<

I love this brand! I have a Masterpiece Double Retrograde (cal 151) and I absolutely love it! It is verry well build, nice details and the size is really good too!

Congrats on a great discount. My problem with the ML Masterpiece line is that the ones I like are all manual wind. I only buy automatics because I hate having to constantly wind a watch.

I would flip it and get something with a little more pedigree. If you are looking for bang per buck I would recommend JLC

Bullshit. ML is a true Manufacture, making almost all components of their Manufacture watches, and they supply parts to many other watch companies. I have a Masterpiece Double Retrograde, and it's a beautiful watch.

JLC is a super brand, but if you want something fresh, ML is definitely a good choice. Their Masterpiece collection is a wonderful blend of art and mechanics.

Just stating my personal view. ML is not a true luxury brand. They are affordable, they look good... But they are still what Mazda is to Mercedes

My philosophy is buy once and buy right. When you get a luxury watch, you want it to be a luxury watch.

Just my 2 cents
