DSSD Blue in Asia
Hi Guys,
I'm new here so be easy on me (: I'm looking for my first watch, I've been to the Rolex Boutique in Hong Kong and in Thailand. I tried some watches and found the Deep Sea to be a good fit. After that I went into the Rolex website and found about the DSSD Blue which is a perfect match for me as I love blue on my watch. So I went back to the Rolex Boutique in HK and they don't have it, went to the one in the Air port, they don't have it. In Thailand....they don't have it. I'm planning another trip to HK which I know is tax free and would be a great deal for me if I get it there. How can I make sure they have the watch waiting lined up for me when I arrive ? Thanks for the help. |

I find it hard to believe in HK (the Rolex capital of the world) you can't find that watch.
I think you need to expand beyond the 'Rolex Boutique'. Adam how many AD's in HK? 90 or something close? |

70, but none will hold it for you if you live overseas. It's hard enough finding one if you live here. They usually don't even make it to the display cases.

I've seen a few around my place. Two at grey dealers and one at a boutique but they move fast, the second time I walked by each shop they were gone.

Would that be impossible even if I put some sort of a down payment/deposit ?
So is this going to be a game of luck, or am I supposed to call all of them to start asking who has it in stock and go to that store? |

One alternative method is to buy from a Grey dealer and have it authenticated at RSC to make sure you are buying a genuine piece. Authentication is free.

Thanks!
Would the process be that I first buy the watch and then go authenticate it ? This is going to be my first Rolex so I kinda wanted to get it at the boutique for the good feeling. |

I have a story behind my DS-b purchase. I already got the black DS. In the past 4 months I had seen 3x at ADs and airport duty free. They all available for me to buy and I bought the 1st one. Look back my logic was if I didn't buy the first one then probably I would bought the 2nd one and the same applied to the 3rd one.
For some reason the AD I bought the DS-b didn't give me the final frontier book. However I managed to get one from the local ad and that only costs me a small fraction if I bought it on eBay. Am I just damn lucky or something else? Merry Christmas and aaHappy New Year! |

I did it from the US prior to my trip to Mexico. Purchased from AD down there and they had it waiting for me upon my arrival and even delivered it to my hotel the day I arrived. However, I purchased prior to my trip had all the paperwork taken care of via scanning and emailing and voila my DSSD and BLNR were waiting for me. Hope this helped! Just call the AD and I'm sure they will work with you as long as you are committed to the purchase.
Happy New Year! |

Yes, you can first buy from reputable resellers (assuming they do have one, which itself is a challenge) and have it authenticated in case you need the additional assurance. |

I would start by cold calling a bunch of the ADs in HK. Otherwise, just ring Davidsw or Takuya and have it in 24hrs.

I got mine pretty easy. I called every AD in NY. I found Lorillil in queens had one. They said they only had one and there were a ton of people interested. He said first come first served so I raced over there and it was mine. I've posted pics on other threads with me wearing it while cage diving with white sharks off the coast of Mexico. I love that watch. Happy Hunting.

Thanks for the helpful tips.
I'm going to call every AD in HK a few days before I fly or even once I book my flight in order to get that time piece waiting for me. |
