Does your Rolex AD keep . . .

. . . your Warranty Card and Statement of Value for 30 days after purchase?

If so, any idea why?

No way. I'd go back to the AD and yell "WTF" to him/her.

Some do. Not a big deal. It's in case you want to return it, I believe.

I would never let an AD keep anything of mine if I'd just purchased it.

Why is it some AD's do things like this. I can't imagine paying for my watch and leaving these things behind... Some act as if they're doing us a favor for spending $10k plus on a watch.

Correct, however they should make you aware by at least asking whether you want the warranty activated right away or not.
Both times I purchased new I was very specifically and politely asked.

When I bought my OP 39mm my AD said I would get the card in the mail after 30 days. They have a 10 day refund and 30 day exchange policy. Made sense to me.

However, when I bought my BLNR, I got the warranty card and everything right then. I had the BLNR on order for 3 weeks and they ended up shipping the the watch from another store for me. I don't know if that made a difference or not.

Some do in case of returns. So they won't fill out the card until they send it to you 30 days later. Otherwise it's a big issue for them to get a new card for a returned piece.

Personally I will not buy from such an AD.

I agree. It's not all bad. It suggests they are leaving the door open for you to change your mind about your purchase.

My AD only keeps the card if the watch is a gift for the return or exchange policy but if the watch is sized or you wear it out they fill out the warranty card and you take it with you.

When put like this, it's no big deal. If my two ADs introduced this policy then I couldn't get bent out of shape over it. However, I wouldn't buy from a new (to me) AD that had this policy.
