Moving Relocating to UK London

Hi Guys,

I am moving to London for work on a Tier 2 ICT Visa. Am I allowed to enter with both of my Rolex? Or something I need to know of?

Thanks for the input.

Absolutely fine, just wear them, if you can't put one on each wrist get somebody else to wear one if you aren't travelling alone. Either leave the box's back home or ship them empty.

When I come back to the UK I just wear one on each wrist. Nobody has ever bothered me.

this isn't the USA, you are allowed to take 2 of your own watches here without them being confiscated

only exception if you purchased them in the last 180 days, and will be staying in UK for 180+ days, (technically) have to pay tax

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but why would this be a concern?

Is it the value of the watches as a "financial instrument" or the possibility of being considered a dealer/seller and not paying VAT/Taxes?

in the US i believe you are questioned if you bring more than a certain amount (3?) of Rolexes into the country, even if they are not recent purchases

something to do with Rolex USA being a separate company to the Rolex that operates in the rest of the world

i am guessing OP was making sure something similar would not occur in other countries

I live in London and fly all over the world and carry several watches in a case in my hand luggage and one on my wrist. Never been stopped or questioned. I just would say I wear a different watch every day just like you change your shirt

I've also had the same experience as madmole. I usually have 6 in the carry on and one on the wrist.

Once when coming back to SF from HK I was questioned by US Customs about my camera (nothing special, just a beaten and scratched-up Canon 5D Mk3). I asked them why they cared about $3k camera when I'm wearing a $30+k watch. They had no answer.

I'm an ACC with the U.K Police, 2 watches are fine sir. Ware one, keep the other in your carry on, no problem whatsoever

Might raise some eyebrows with that many and some questions will definitely have to be properly answered (Of course it always depends upon who you have for a security agent, some or more lenient than others) I have personally carried 4 watches (wearing one, 3 carry on) with me on many travels throughout the world with no real issues but a few questions/comments on rare occasions. This is without showing them my police badge/ID, I don't utilize this unless it is absolutely necessary.
