We're in NYC on the 8th floor in the middle of the falling snow. There's already about 1 ft. of snow in Central Park and it's still coming down hard. We're supposed to go to the Met for an opera tonight. So far the performance is on. No shoveling for us. We let the building crew take care of that.

Looks like the mayor just asked all shows and restaurants to close now and send employees home, transit is closing, and police will arrest anyone driving. Up to 30 inches. Wow…been a while since NYC had to deal with a storm like this.

I think its easier to deal with the frigid wind chills we get in MN than snowfalls that severe.

Buses stopped at 12noon, subways stop at 2:30, river crossings are closing at 2:30 and all non-emergency vehicles are ordered off the roads.

I left my car parked out front last night just in case we lost power. I had to dig the thing out to put in the garage

We've gotten about 24" and it is finally letting up. The terraced stone walls in my backyard are barely visible. There are 6 to 8 foot drifts. I've lived other places where it snowed but Nor' easters are no fun.

Let us now when the snow is piled up to your window, we'll send a dogsled in to get you

If it gets that high it will take more than a dogsled to get to us. 😀

We've had about 3 or 4 days since mid-October when it hasn't rained at least once in a 24 hour period. I've been saying to my wife that I'd prefer to have snow and cold rather than being a little warmer and constant rain. I'm tempted to take that back now.

Good luck to all of you stuck in it and be safe.

I put my car in the garage at 75th & 1st Ave as soon as we got to NYC Thursday. I'll get it out tomorrow or Tuesday to back to DC.

This is how high the snow was in the middle of my driveway at about 5pm last night. Insane amount in Central Jersey!

I'm about 35 miles SE of Philly - Kennett Square. I thought we were out of the woods and then one of those nasty purple bands set up and dumped about 8 inches in 4 hours. They claim we got 30". I have no idea because the wind blew it everywhere. Along my driveway it varies from 24 to 30 inches and the backyard has drifts 6' to 8' deep.

Mapalfa - don't begrudge the rain, it doesn't have to be blown, plowed or shoveled like this insane white stuff we got

I was on my way to work Saturday and I live on a country road. This is the 2 foot I had to wait on a local farmer to clear out. Thank god for good people.

Stay safe out there my friends! I had a cold weekend too although it was the Miami equivalent...high 50s and windy.

We got about 22 inches where I am. It took seven trips to shovel over 36 hours to dig both the cars out. I am hurting in places I did not know existed.

My hometown Spoke with family and friends and they were ready to begin burning furniture to stay warm because it was "so cold".
