Get what YOU like and don't let anyone on here sway you otherwise as YOU will be the one PAYING for it as well as WEARING it...... as for a discount it's your money to spend so I would ask for and expect a discount on any new ROLEX watch and if I don't get one I simply take my business elsewhere till I get a deal that I feel comfortable with.

Well I don't think that this will be that far away, and I certainly hope that they don't discontinue it. At least until I can get me one.

As far as discounts, I suggest you visit different ADs near your area but be prepared to purchase when they make you a good offer. ADs will offer discounts to serious buyers whether or not it's your first purchase at their store.

Good luck with your Explorer purchase and congratulations in advance!
I'll keep the forum posted. This is a special watch to me and I will want to share my happiness when finally purchased.

I will check into that also. Thanks.

My friend ended up with his first Rolex doing the same thing thing. He told me to show up at the AD with the amount of cash that I both felt fair and comfortable with and let the AD know you want to become a customer of theirs but at the same time are looking for the best price.

Does this apply also in the UK concerning discounts?
I was looking to purchase my first rolex and after originally planning to get an Oyster Perpetual 39mm but after trying the Explorer 1 39mm I'm starting to sway to this. But reading this thread I can't help but think the sales woman was trying to push me to the Explorer, maybe because it's more expensive or they have a lot of stock or simply because she feels it's a nicer watch. But now I've never been more confused in my decision on my first rolex

A very possible possibility.

That's sounding more appealing to me by the minute.

I was never a fan of the 39mm Ex until I joined the TRF. I am growing a real appreciation for its understated grace end elegance.
