Attention : 40mm Classic Range

The classic range of Rolexs look impressive but i think lack the status a 40mm size would give them. The Subby and GMT master are 40mm and look bloody stunning. Managed to purchased a SS GMT II (Ceremic) and i must say, its a truly handsome time piece.

Does the forum think that its time Rolex modernises the classic range and make them larger.

41MM would be ideal, 42 on the border. Anything bigger wouldn't do it for me. I don't think they should be making <38MM for men in the future.

For me, the 40 mm is perfect for my wrist and as large as I could go. I could see the need for the larger size depending on the size of the wrist... for example, the DSSD.

I think my 36mm DJ is a great size for a dress watch. If I want something larger (sportier), then I wear my sporty watches (Exp-II; Sub). The DJ is strictly for wear under the cuff of a dress shirt, and anything larger would be too much, IMO.

I think they are already increasing the size of their watches at a good pace. Look at the milgausses, the Deep Sea and the new DD at 41mm (looks great on pics). I would say that in a few years the datejust will sure follow.

40 mm is well balanced and spot-on for virtually most wrists. Anything bigger would be acceptable only to a few - NOT most!! And that would be Rolex's primary concern.

I've tried 43 mm watches and don't think they look too big on me. However, in the world of sport's watches, 40 mm has been the standard for a long time and looks good on pretty much any wrist, imho.

Does everybody think that other classic ranges could benefit from a slight size increase to 40mm (ie. Day Date, Datejust etc)?

No--I think they're perfect at 36mm. Luckily for all of us, it appears that Rolex will release super-sized versions of the DD and DJ, while continuing to offer the classic models in 36mm.

I honestly think its only a matter of time before 40mm is standard across the board and Rolex needs to keep up. 36mm looks small on most wrists.

in my opinion it's the smaller sizes that makes 'em classics. but i guess for guys with larger wrists, larger case sizes would be/are a good option. just keep making the smaller case sizes as well... i hope.
