Dressier than the Pro line but fits in well in any setting.

Another thing to consider. Its really you who make the watch and the style and not the other way around. I've seen many a pic with John Mayer sporting a 60K Patek Annual Calendar wearing jeans and a tee shirt. And that's a 'dressy' watch.

Another story...had a friend in the Rolex business back in TX in the 80's. He mentioned alot of the 'oil' workers sporting DateJusts. Go figure.

Remember, alot of folks considered DJ as tool watches back in the day, but perhaps, all the new polished and flashy Roman numeral dails and lack of drilled lugs are moving the watch away from its humble beginnings and 'image' of a 'tool' watch.....So to the OP, I understand your quandry.

Agree with perpetual, it's up to you. Smooth bezel and oyster bracelet is probably the most casual but still able to rise to an occasion. Fluted and jubilee is more formal but if you're comfortable wearing it everyday more power to you!

DJII is a great watch for both dress and casual wear! If you're afraid it's too formal, you could consider the smooth bezel. It's a little less flashy.

It's definitely dressier than my GMT, but I honestly feel just as comfortable wearing it in PJs as I do a suit (see below). It's my everyday watch, and it goes with everything.

The smooth bezel version of this watch was my first Rolex and it went very well with casual attire. The fluted bezel adds some more flash, but I wouldn't have any worries. It's a beautiful piece!

It can be dressed up or down, as others have said. Agree that it's easier to do this with the smooth bezel models. The fluted bezel is really noticeable on this watch, given it's size.

It's essentially the dressiest sport watch that Rolex makes. To me this makes it versatile but by no means a pure dress piece.

I like to think of the Datejust as being business casual, but also looks great with formal attire.

To me the Datejust can be dressed up or down.. I have a white dial fluted bezel on a black leather strap with white stitching. I wear that to the office and casual. I have other Datejusts all on jubilee.

Heck no!

But, having said that, I do think the stick dial and smooth bezel options are a little more sporty...and versatile.
