Rubber B on Explorer I 39MM

Hey Guys!

I have been looking to purchase a Rubber B band for my watch. However, it seems that I can not figure out about one "problem". Since the 214270 has the newer clasp, it does not have the spring bar holes on the sides of the clasp. I figured that removing the SS bracelet and installing the Rubber B band should not be a big problem.

The "problem" is how could I remove the Rubber B strap when there are no spring bar holes on the clasp. Since Rubber B has a tight fit with the sides of the strap, should I just jam my spring bar removal tool in?

Angelo (his handle here is SemperFi) put Rubber B on his 214270. You may want to ask him. Here's his pic from TRF Explorer I Club thread (more pics in there):

No need to jam anything. The RubberB is custom fitted to your watch and has a cutout in the rubber to allow you to easily remove the strap.

Wow; stunning!

I do very much like the Oyster bracelet but have to say - that is truly stunning.

Yes wow I agree I love that explorer with the rubber band SemperFi. I usually dont like the rubber in a Rolex but works very well with that reference. Or perhaps it just your wrist and skin tone that makes it hehe.

Have to agree, Angelo that looks absolutely great! Was it hard to switch over to the strap? What's the clasp side look like?

Hi Tim.
It was difficult to both get the bracelet off and the RubberB on due to the tight tolerances on both of them. I used a Bergeon 6767ff spring bar tool but with that tool you can only depress one side of the springbar at a time.
I've since ordered the Horotec Springbar Pliers which is due to be delivered today. I would think depressing both sides of the springbar simultaneously would make for an easier removal and installation process, but we'll see.
Here's a pic of the clasp.

Ah, I see you got the strap! Looking good!
what I mean about the jamming is for the strap with the clasp not the buckle though.

Look at my first photo of the underside of the strap. I'm sure the one with the clasp is made the exact same way. There's plenty of room to easily remove the strap.

I was on the Rubber B website, it doesn't seem like they have the dimples at the clasp.
So confused right now

I really am not sure what you're referring to. The spring bar holes are not on the clasp. If you look at the photos on the RubberB website you can clearly see on the underside, the cutout in the rubber where the strap meets the watch case on both the strap with the Rolex clasp and the one with the tang buckle.

I don't know if I can post the website here but on here, the strap for with the original rolex strap.
If you look at image 1, there are no holes on the clasp where the the band at 12 oclock meets the clasp. I am quite there are no space there for the spring bar. So I am assuming I have to jam the spring bar tool when I remove it?

Check out this video. You question will be answered around the 6 minute mark of the video. If you look closely you can see that there are holes on the 12 o'clock strap near the clasp that will fit into the clasp and be secured with a pin.

Yes, it's about as comfortable as can be. Most of the time I don't even know it's on my wrist. It gives me an excuse to check that it's still there.

That model of rubberb attaches to the clasp end link with the use of the screw.
