New to Rolex, some help please - Explorer 2 Polar 16570

Hi, new here and new to Rolex.

Only been in to Automatic time pieces for around 6 months. Started off with Orient/Seiko/Steinhart but soon realised I wanted something a little special. Ended up going with a 2006 Rolex Explorer 2 16570 with the white dial. Absolutely love the watch!

I got it from Watchfinder with papers but no box. There was one with papers and box on the site but there was a mark on the bezel that I just would not have been happy with so I went for the one with no box. Watchfinder's did however throw in a Rolex box, just not the correct one. I believe it may be for a DateJust. Either way the box won't shut properly with my Explorer in it.

Can anyone give any advice on a genuine Rolex box that may work for me? I am guessing getting hold of an Explorer 2 box may be difficult? I will probably sell the box I have currently.

Thanks for any help and I am looking forward to having a look around the forum

The correct box would be the same one that a Stainless Datejust came in; no special box for most models.

Stainless Steel get a small box, TT get a medium box and gold get the large box - with some exceptions.

When you say it won't close you need to be more specific because an Exp II doesn't take up any more space than any other watch..

What you have is a mismatched pair. Your 16570 could have come in either the wrapped pillow or cuff configuration. But what you have is the shallow cardboard box and green leatherette box with the cuff from the deeper version.

Call watch finder and see what they will do in terms of the box with the pillow. Would love to see pictures of the watch.

Thanks, the watch was advertised without box which I was a bit disappointed with so they threw in a box, they just didn't have the right one.

Cheers for the advice, Imshall look into the site mentioned.

I have attached a picture of the watch :)

Service was great, I had them take a lot of pieces out so I could quiz them on the condition and they were more than willing to accomodate. I probably paid a little higher than I would have on Chrono24 but the peace of mind that I have a genuine piece is worth it in my opinion.

I see what you are saying now, thanks for that. I will look out for a more suitable box.

I also like it on the white leather strap....Everest makes a really nice white leather w/ red stitching which makes the GMT Hand really pop, or they offer just the white rubber strap which also looks great.
