Not sure how old you are, but I spent many years looking at a silver dial Datejust. As my eyes got older it was harder and harder to read, especially in daylight. The Sun reflects off the dial and hands and it just looks like a silver blur. As others have mentioned, black dials are the 'default' tool watch dial, and it you get a Sub or GMT one day you'll likely get Black. My preference would be Blue. But if you are set between these two, then I'd get Black. It is more readable and Black goes with everything. But consider Blue. It is a pretty dark blue but looks great.

Between those two, the silver. But blue is my favorite out of all the options.

Black dial. Great casual or with a suit.

Thanks for all the input, I've decided on the silver face, placed the order and will arrive in two weeks, picking it up in Singapore AD. Will let you know how I get on. The silver face appeals more as I like the 'blinginess' of it. Also, with what Ravager mentioned, if I opt for the sub in a couple of years the TT Gold with black face is high on the list. Muchos gracias

Glad you picked the silver dial. I also like the white dial and the blue. Have got a bit fed up of black faced watches.

Cant go wrong but I would go black. Get the silver stick in a 36mm version as your next one. You will own another Rolex!

The thing is I only ever wear black when in the tux and the Cartier looks really elegant with that outfit. On a daily basis I'm more navy and complementary colours. Thing is the blue watch I eventually will get is the Tag Hauer Monaco Chrono.
